Cozy And Inviting Fall Living Room Decor Ideas

As we head into fall, I couldn’t wait to start re-decorating our home to mark the change in season. Since our living room is the first room our friends and family see when they enter, it only made sense to start our seasonal refresh there. Here are six simple tips for styling a fall living room that will inspire you to create your own cozy space that you will love coming home to.

Styling Tip #1: Set the Stage
Before beginning to decorate to carefully choose your color palette for the space and your house. This will help you stay focused on purchasing items that complement one another. I personally love to mix warm tones with cool colors for a bit of contrast that really pops.

Styling Tip #2: Choose A Statement Piece
When I think of decorating for fall, a few items come to mind: cozy pillows, warm throws, and jewel and deep color tones. But how do we tie it all together? For this room refresh, I found the perfect statement piece for our space at our local HomeGoods: wall art. This wall art has all the jewel tones and deep colors I wanted to incorporate into our fall refresh and served as my color guide when adding in additional pieces to the room—which by the way, are all from HomeGoods!

Styling Tip #3: The Perfect Pillows & Throws
Once you have an art piece or statement décor item to refer to for your color scheme, it’s time to add in decorative pillows and throws to make the space inviting and cozy. Our family has been loving all the fall patterns, colors and chunky knitted textures of the pillows and throws from HomeGoods this season and now you can buy them all on online at HomeGoods.com (cue the confetti!)! Also, if you’re wondering how to keep the items organized and beautiful, simply add a woven basket to house them.

Styling Tip #4: Velvet, Velvet, Velvet
If you want your living room to look and feel comfy yet luxurious, look no further than velvet. HomeGoods has an amazing selection of unique and colorful upholstered furniture. We added citrine yellow velvet accent chairs and a light grey velvet couch to our living room. The light grey is a great neutral color for fall and is so versatile that it can be easily used during all seasons and works especially well with layering.

Styling Tip #5: Think Florals for Fall
Though florals tend to be associated with spring and summer, they can also be a part of your fall decor by using branches, leaves and dried flowers in fall colors. For instance, these burnt orange flowers in a black matte ceramic vase on our coffee table give the space a pop of color and the perfect fall-like vibes.
